Are
online non-traditional universities accredited
and do
I have to attend classes?
Accreditation is the process in which schools
undergo with an outside agency that verifies the school meets the
standard set of criteria. The criterion varies depending on the
agency, if it covers the institution, just specialized courses, and where the agency is located. This is a voluntary process and some
schools do not seek accreditation. Some non-traditional
schools are accredited and others are not.
Most reputable schools advise that you check with potential employer(s)
before proceeding with a Life Experience Degree and verify it
will be accepted.
Non-traditional distance learning educational
institutions are unlike traditional colleges and universities and
have no residency requirements, no buildings or campus, and no
full-time faculty. Instead, they use technology to reach students, allowing them to pursue their degree wherever they are. They
recognize that not everyone has the time or money required to
attend a traditional university. Through a Life Experience Degree
program, students are offered the opportunity to obtain a degree
based on knowledge and experience they already have. This takes
far less time and money and allows for career advancement without having
to take time away from work or family.
