Analyst! As
a Business Analyst, you are a fully participating member of a consulting
or project team. You are expected to contribute ideas, opinions
and new information. Working with experienced managers and
consultants, Business Analysts develop models, perform complex
analyses, and work on research assignments. Business Analysts
often travel while on assignments, undertaking a broad range of activities
while gaining exposure to the business world. They may also
participate in marketing activities and the preparation of
proposals for new product opportunities and business requirements
for information systems.
There is no single model or standard for a
Business Analysts. They are a diverse group, with superior
intellectual and communication skills. Most Business Analysts find employment immediately after graduating college with
undergraduate degrees in fields that include business,
engineering, and the liberal arts. Relevant work experience also
is very important. For some positions, majors in Information Technology, Information Systems or graduate degrees are preferred.

Analyze financial statements and interpret annual reports - Gather
strategic business information - Review and document business
processes - Prepare detailed business systems requirements -
Coordinate with Information Technology professionals
There are
numerous technical institutions offering specialized training for Business
Analysts. Many of these schools partner with software vendors and
offer graduates industry standard certifications such as MCSD - Microsoft
Certified Solution Developer, and MCAD - Microsoft Certified
Application Developer.
